It is important to make sure that you are keeping a close eye on the condition of your residential windows so you will know when it is time to have them replaced. The sooner bad windows are replaced, the better. Of course, you will need to have a better understanding of the signs that you should be looking for. Here are some things that you will want to be on the lookout for:
Cracks In The Glass
Even if it does not appear that the cracks go all of the way through the glass, once cracks appear, it is time to call for window replacement. Once the crack is there, the stability of the window is gone. It will be very easy for someone to break through the window in order to gain access to the inside of your home. You should try to closely examine all of the windows in your home every couple of weeks, as you never know when a crack might form. All it takes is a random bird flying into the window to cause a crack, and this happens a lot.
The Windows Shake
The windows for your home need to be securely set in place and they should not be able to be wiggled. The only movement that should happen is the opening and closing of the window. If anything else is happening, such as the shaking of the panes during a windy storm, it is time to set up an appointment with a company that can install replacement windows for you. If you do not do this, you are leaving your windows at risk for shattering should the vibrations get too bad. You are also likely to lose a lot of air from in your house, causing your HVAC system to have to work much harder.
You Can Feel Air Flowing Into The House
If you approach your windows during a windy day and you can actually feel air flowing in from the outside, it is time to have replacement windows installed. Once you do this, you will no longer have to worry about such drafts making their way into your home. You might even find that you are going to see a decrease in your heating and cooling bills once the new windows are in place.
You will want to make sure that you are calling for your replacement windows as soon as possible.Share
